Nothing feels better than helping our animals on their journey to find a forever home where they can love and be loved. We thank everyone of our adoptive families for opening their hearts and homes to the forgotten animals.

The cute little Birthday gift!!

Darla was picked up by the police and brought to the shelter. She sure was a cute, little stray puppy!!!

My husband adopted Darla a Springer Spaniel/St. Bernard mix puppy in September and gave her to our family as a birthday gift. Here you will find Darla today loving her new home!

Plum tuckered out .... with her little stuffed animal. Awwwww ...

I'd say she had a LOT of Saint Bernard in her LOL!!!!
She got HUGE!!!

Milo in his new home ... he's getting lots of snuggle time!!!

Dear Friends at the SPCA,
I wanted to write and let you know how I am doing at my new home. I was adopted this past August and my name used to be "Milo". My new name is "Walker" and I must say that I do like it, actually it took no time at all for me to respond to Walker.

I have two brothers, Wells and Wyatt. They have taught me a lot. I really enjoy being around other Corgis. Everyday we play together, take naps, and chew on our bones. I've enclosed some photos of all us. The one photo is of us in bed. We have a nightly ritual of watching some television and snuggle time with my new Mommy and Daddy, the snuggling is my favorite. The other photo is of Wyatt and I on the sofa. The last photo is of course me, I look so much better than when you saw me last. I've gained weight, my fur is shiny, and I am very happy in my new home. I've learned several new commands which I am happy to do for a treat. I love cooked carrots and green beans, just thinking about them makes me slobber.

Everyday I am loved and touched and told how sweet I am, life cannot get any better. I cannot thank you enough for taking care of me and finding the perfect home for me. All I ever wanted was to be loved and now I have it!!!

Best wishes, Walker

Zayda has a new Mommy ... and a new name, Ziva!!
Any NCIS fans out there??

Zayda's first Mommy passed away, no one in the family wanted her, so she was brought to the SPCA. Because she is "the sweetest dog that has ever been born", it didn't take her long to find a new Mommy and family!!! Although she sure looks like a couch potato, Ziva's new Mommy said that she is a great walking partner too! Hooray for Ziva!!!

Too cute .....

Jack has found a new home and a new pillow ... his brother, Buell!

Buell sure must love his new brother, or is just very tolerant of him ... I think it's called brotherly love!!

Jack was just a little 3 month old puppy when he was surrendered to the SPCA with his two sisters, Janet & Chrissy (Three's Company). All three of them got adopted and Jack has been in his new home for a little over a month. Here is a little note from his Mom:
I would like to share a few pictures of Jack so you can see how well he has fit into our my family. Don't be alarmed by one of the pictures...Jack had to have eye surgery for his lower lids growing inward..he his doing great. Thank you so much for allowing me to be Jacks mom....which by the way I kept the name Jack and added Frost to it. Jack's new siblings are 2 cats Noah & Amos...ea. around 16 yrs old. Harley a black Lab 10 yrs old. Buell a black Lab 7 yrs. old and me. He is a blessing to our crazy little family.

Jack after eye surgery.

Jack Frost is a snuggler for sure, without a doubt.

He seems to squeeze in wherever he can!!!

This one is hilarious!!!!

Her shelter was an old truck cap, living on the end of a chain ....

This is "Shawna" and she has lived the first couple years of her life never knowing the real love of a family or the comforts of living inside.

Cheyenne (Shawna) in the car after her run – which she is CRAZY about – she goes from the front passenger seat to the cargo cover in the back to sticking her head out the window.
From living under a truck cap ....
Now she's in the driver's seat ...
Living life to the fullest with a family who loves her!!!

Shawna came to the SPCA with 13 other dogs, all of whom also lived outside chained up in the scorching heat and freezing snow. She had no socialization and is scared of everything, especially men. It took her a long time to open up to the staff and she would run and hide as fast as she could, at the littlest sound. It's been a long road for Shawna, but she survived and is having a great life!!! Here's a little note from Shawna's new Mom (she is now called Cheyenne):

We are so grateful we found Cheyenne and could welcome her into our home. She enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner laying next to my feet under the table with 3 other males in the room. I thought it was a HUGE success. After being in the kitchen all morning, Cheyenne and I laid on the front porch enjoying the afternoon! Every night she sleeps on Mike’s pillow and allows him to walk her – as long as I am waiting for them at the door. She will jump in the air for her biscuits and toys and loves her belly being rubbed. She still has some moments where a noise will scare her, but she has improved 100% from our first day. Enjoy the pictures. Thank you all!

Cheyenne in bed with her Mr. Elephant. She treats him like a prince, once she got the squeaker and stuffing out, I sewed him back up and she takes him everywhere.

Cheyenne snuggled up in bed ... a wonderful Happy Tail!!!!

Faye is enjoying her golden years in a new home !!!!!

What a pretty girl!!!

Faye was surrendered to the shelter with another dog and cat because her owner was moving. She is a senior girl and it broke our hearts knowing how her heart must ache for her family. She was the sweetest gal you could ever meet and loved, loved, loved belly rubs. Here's a little note from Faye:

Hi Everyone it's me Faye, My new mommy took some pictures of me in my new forever home. Check them out. I really like it here. I am learning how to do all kinds of doggie things. So far I have learned down, how to chew on a dog bone (I especially like the ones they stuff with peanut butter), and how to bring a doggie toy to anyone that comes to visit. I have lots of room to run but I'm not sure if I like that or not. Oh and I have a new name-- its Maggie Mae, Maggie for short. I got a bath and I am really soft. My mommy and daddy say that I am good except when I get on their bed and roll upside down. They make me lay on a rug (timeout), but that's ok it gives me a chance to rest. Whiskey and I have become really good friends, just look at our pictures. Maggie

Whiskey and Maggie enjoying cuddle time ....

Shadow & Sunny, both rescued dogs ... are best friends!!

Newton (on the right), now known as Shadow, was adopted from the ACSPCA in 2010 and Sunny was adopted from the Harrisburg Humane Society in 2005.

Dear friends of the SPCA, We adopted our Shadow (AKA Newton) on September 18, 2010. I wanted to let you know he is very happy and healthy. He had a visit to the vets today - weighs 63 lbs. He's perfect!

Shadow loves to play with Sunny - they are always together. He has brought all of us a lot of happiness.

The Bossom family

Best Buds ...

Iduna was a stray cat (a very beautiful one) ... now she is a member of a family!!

Here'a a little note from Iduna's family:

Here are some pictures of Iduna, who I adopted in August. She has adjusted great and is a wonderful kitty. She really likes to play with my older male cat, Little Guy. She is a wonderful addition to the family and home.

YAAAY for Iduna!!! No more living on the streets for her ... and lots of toys too!

The Lovebirds ...

We are soo glad our Mommy adopted both of us from the Adams County SPCA and we get to be lovebirds!!

Pony Girl (now named Chika) was pulled from a wheel well after being there for 2 days (too scared to come out) and Kodak was abandoned on the front steps of the SPCA. Now these two once homeless kitties live the good life and better yet, they get to live with each other. Here's a little note from their new Mom:

They love each other and both have wonderful personalities and purring machines! Kodak is still growing and on 8/24 he weighed 8pm 4oz. She weighs 7 lbs. She has remained small (though it doesn't look it in this picture. We are thrilled with them!!! :)

Josephine is one purr-fect little kitty!!

I've got one eye open, one eye shut ... waiting for my Mommy to get home. Don't want to miss giving her a greeting!

I adopted Josephine on June 6, 2011 and renamed her Nala (any Disney fan will know where this name came from) and I couldn't have asked for a better kitty! Her purr-sonality is purr-fect :) I've never met a cat that purrs just walking around. She is very vocal...and I love it! She especially makes herself heard when I come home from work (or when she's hungry).

She doesn't get scared around lots of people and never hides. It may seem like she's always sleeping by the pictures you see, but she has lots of energy and loves to play, especially with her feather toy (her favorite!) and her little fish toy that crinkles. She loves to sit in the front bay window and watch outside and is usually there when I pull in the driveway after being gone for a while. Sometimes, if I'm going through papers, she will just come right up and sit on my work! Nala prefers to sleep wherever she feels comfortable (as you can see) and I treat her with Whiskas cat treats when she's really good or cuddly. Nala is loved tremendously and I couldn't have made a better decision than to adopt my kitty from the SPCA! She's the best :)

I'm dreaming ... I'm in a wonderful new home,
a Mommy who loves me ... wait a minute, I'm not dreaming,
this is real!!!!!

Moe chillin in his new home!!

Hi Guys, Here is my baby (Moe) taking a nap. Isn't he so beautiful. I wish my land lord would let me have another. Take care. God Bless you all.

"Happy" sure has reason to be happy now!!!

I'm soo proud of my Puppy STAR certificate!!

Hello all! My name is Talia and we adopted Happy, a Lab/Border Collie Mix at the end of April. I just wanted to send you a note and some pictures of how awesome this little girl is and how much we love her! We changed her call name to Bayonet (since she's from Gettysburg, and we love Gettysburg) and her registered AKC name is Byers All In Fix Bayonets. I train dogs at Dandy Dog Training, and she has already completed the Basic/ Puppy STAR class and is now in the Advanced Basic/ CGC class. She will début in her many to come dog sports in September with Rally-Obedience and she will dance/ Dog Freestyle in Nov. The 1st pic is of her with her Puppy STAR certificate. The next pic is of her and her brother, a blue merle Aussie, Ike at our 1st trip back to Gettysburg since we got her. Which she and her brother get along great! On these hot days, we've been taking them down to the creek to cool off. Attached are some pics of her swimming. She just loves it, and you can really see the Lab in her. We have her on a long line, and she just goes. She's like a little kid and checks in for about 30 sec and then goes "ok bye" and she leaves again. She could swim for hours. Thank you so much for giving us a great little girl! She's got a lot yet to learn, but she has such a willing personality. Please feel free to share! xoxo, Talia

Another day of swimming ... Yaaay!!!
My new family is soo awesome!!!

Piper's Happy Tail!

I love to swim and I love my new family!!!

Hi. I’m Piper and wow have I had a crazy life so far...and I’m only a year and a half old. The SPCA found me roaming the streets and farms of Adams County as a stray and in pretty poor health. Luckily, Brookline Lab Retriever Rescue came to get me and matched me up with a great foster home to help get me back on my feet. My foster family took great care of me and I really loved being with them but they couldn’t keep me furever.

Fortunately, I met this new family with a great home and a fur-sister named Meisha they rescued from Brookline too! Having two of us was a lot to handle for them at first but we all worked really hard to make it work and now we have a blast. They fenced in their yard for me so I have plenty of room to run and wrestle with my fur-sister. Every weekend you’ll see me out there playing fetch with mom or dad. No matter how hot it gets or how tired I get you know I’ll always go get whatever they’re throwing for me. When I get hot I can just go cool off in the pool.

Ah, this is the life ...

I wasn’t sure how to swim at first but my dad taught me because he wanted to be sure I wouldn’t have any problems if I fell in and now I love it. I go into the pool on my own just to cool off! Don’t worry, they keep it secured when they’re not around so there aren’t any accidents.

Give it to me ... it's mine!! I'm bigger than you!!

I have so many toys here I don’t even know what to do with them all. In addition to all my toys and my fur-sister Meisha, I have fur-brother, Taz, and fur-sister, Lady, that are cats. I’d love to play with them but they aren’t quite up for it yet. I know it will just be a matter of time until we play with one another like Meisha and I do. Meisha and I are completely inseparable. She and I do everything together. It’s funny, I’m much bigger and stronger than her but she is definitely my big sister if you know what I mean. I love playing with her and we get to wrestle and have the best time playing tug of war. We have a ton of tug toys so we get to play that game all the time and boy do we love it. I even go to doggie day camp a few times a week to meet and play with other dogs. My dad has been spending time teaching me all kinds of tricks and commands. I really am pretty smart and I think he knows it so he’s always trying to teach me something new. I love learning these new things and especially love the reward of a treat or some tug time with him on the other end of one of my tug toys. Despite having a pretty rough beginning, my life has turned out great. I have a great family who loves me lots, a great house with plenty to do and a wonderful fur-sister to play with all the time. Love Piper!!

The General & his Steed ... Micalob!!!!

General Longstreet mounted on The "Royal Micalob".

Micalob (now named Boone) was adopted from the Adams County SPCA two years ago. Micalob and two other horses had been wandering around for weeks without food or water, so at the request of the Humane Officers Micalob and the other two horses were surrendered to the SPCA. Since that day his life has taken a turn for the better. He has a wonderful family and he even did his 1st reenactment this year and was the proud steed of General Longstreet. Hooray for Boone and his new family!!!!

Nikon is loving his new home ... check him out!!

I get to go everywhere with my new Mom! Hey Mom ... I'm ready to go.

Nikon (now Faber) had his Mom send us a little note to let us know how he was doing:

Hi, Just wanted to send you some pictures of Faber. He is doing so well. We seem to make a good pair. Thank you all so very much! You are an amazing group of people.
Thanks, Kim

I didn't do it ... I swear I didn't!!!

Puffy's new life ... from "Rags to Riches"!!!!

Puffy giving his new sister (Merry) a big wet kiss!!!
Puffy is Merry's puppy and she just loves him!!

Puffy was one of the 14 Tic Toc dogs that were living in inhumane conditions and were surrendered to the Adams County SPCA at the request of the Humane Officers. Puffy and his brothers & sisters were living chained to the back of trucks or in a pen that wasn't fit for a pig. They have all been adopted now, except for Rosie (she is still looking for a new home).

Merry brought Puffy in to the shelter for a visit, which we loved seeing him. She also adopted "Baby Sam", a little kitten while she was here. Merry told us that Puffy was really scared when they first brought him home, but he has gotten better. He likes to play with his female Shepherd friend (Kayla). He loves kids and he even gets to sleep in the bedroom with Merry. He especially loves to hang out with the kids while they are riding their pony "Tux". Puffy shares his home with a slew of dogs and cats and we know that he is very happy!!!! From living the worst life a dog could live to A "Rag to Riches" story!!!!

A note from Josie's Mom: In the almost three months that I've had her, she has gained two pounds, become fully housebroken, learned to go on walks, learned how to play fetch with her cow toy and has a ton of neighborhood doggie friends. She has really come out of her shell and has become so playful and energetic, running laps around her friends or, if no one's around, trying to get the cat to play. (This doesn't always work.)

Josie is a walking party, an absolute sweetheart and such a joy to be around. I feel lucky to have her in my life and am grateful to you all for the opportunity to have adopted her.

An affectionate Iguana? Absolutely ...

Iggy with her new family ... She loves to be with people or basking in the sun.

Iggy was surrendered to the SPCA by her owner and she waited for quite sometime to find a new home. She is not your typical lay around in a tank kind of gal. She loved to sit in the windowsill soaking up the rays, lounge on top of our computers or taking a dip in the baby pool. We just loved her and were soo happy the day she got adopted and went to her new family. A note from Iggy's new Mom: "We love Iggy & she is VERY affectionate. Thanks for letting us adopt her into our family; my big white Poodle Zac is "in love" with her, it's soo funny to watch!!"

Takin' a dip ....
Basking in the sun ...

"Mondo" is a very happy, happy dog ... he has found
a family that loves him!!!!

Abandoned by her owner ... "Star" now
keeps her new parents feet warm at night!!!

Star now has a new family and has made herself right at home!!!

Just to let you guys know Star has made her self right at home and kinda taken over. She is a sweet dog and very loved and we are happy we found her. She follows Brenda everywhere and has announced her arrival when she goes for a walk to the neighborhood and to the other K9's residents. We ran to the store for a couple of minutes the other day and when we came home it was as though we had been gone for a year. She was very excited and loves her new home. She enjoys car rides very much and keeps our feet warm at night. That's the way a Dog touches your hearts and she gets an A+ !!!!

Where you going Mom??? I'm right here ....

Benny (formerly Hunter) celebrates 1 year
living in his forever home!!!

Benny looks like he is enjoying life ... he sure picked a great forever family!!

Benny (aka Hunter) is about to celebrate his 1-year anniversary in his forever home with his forever family. It's been an amazing year for him and for us too.

I fell in love with Benny without knowing he was a shy dog. He wasn't fearful and he didn't cower but his shyness became more evident each day. I had never lived with a shy dog before and was accustomed to very playful, more in-your-face types. Benny was going to be different.

It has been incredible watching his confidence build and a lot of his shyness slip away. On his first day home he had no idea what stairs were. His first 4 days were slept away, which we chalked it up to him being in a quiet environment maybe for the first time in his two year old life. The first 2 weeks were spent on a big chair in the living room. Benny only left the chair to go outside. We even allowed him to have his breakfast and dinner in the chair because he felt safest there.

Slowly he began to get acquainted with his 3 feline housemates. It was 6 weeks before he ever barked or gave us one if his great beagle howls. 10 weeks in and his neighbor, a female Jack Russell / Beagle mix named Ginger who is very fearful of other dogs finally accepted him as her friend. This was monumental for Benny who loves all other dogs he meets. Somewhere around the 3-month mark we realized that he had begun to actively seek out our attention, snuggling on the sofa or bed soon followed. Today he is a well-mannered, reasonably quiet, sofa-sleeping, snack-crazy, deeply loving companion. He thrives on routine and peaceful surroundings and uses his talented nose and deep howling bay to offer his "beagley-best" on every walk we take.

If you are ever unsure about life with a shy dog please put those fears to rest. It may take a little longer for them but the rewards of watching them gain their self-assurance makes it all very worth the wait. They love deeply and they are loyal to a fault. They give so much more than they ever take.

I cannot thank the shelter staff enough for taking care of this guy until we found each other, and for the care that they give to so many animals in need. Your value, heart, and humanity are immeasurable!

"Bonzo's" ride to his new home ...

Not long after arriving to his new home ... ZZZZZZZZZ!!

We adopted Hines (aka Bonzo) and he is such a good boy! We could not be happier to give him a warm, happy home! I find it hard to believe that this sweet boy wasn't adopted sooner, except that he was waiting for us. The first night we brought him home, he settled in perfectly and snored away on his new bed. He's had fun exploring his new yard and bounding around in the snow. Thank you so much to everyone- staff and volunteers- for loving him until we could get there to take him home.

Bonzo waited for three months to FINALLY find his forever home!!!! Hip, Hip, Hooray!!!!

"Izzy" was one of a litter of unwanted puppies ...
now she has a family that loves her!!!

Hello to ALL my friends at the Adams County SPCA!!!

This is Veritas (aka, Tas kitty) the BIG gray tomcat who spent almost three months calling the ACSPCA my home...until last October, when my new forever mommy and daddy brought me to my new forever home. I just wanted to give you guys an update on me (of course, I had to have Mom type this letter for me because I missed out on typing in kitty school...lol...but I'm telling her everything to say!)

So, upon my arrival to my new home I discovered that my new Mom and Dad had a surprise for me!! A brand new, carpet covered cat tree drizzled with CATNIP just begging me to come scratch all over it...woo hooooo!!! Also, some new toys (although, my favorite toy is a balled up piece of tin foil...I play with it all day), a new litter box, a new bed, and a wonderful new food and water bowl...all for ME!!!!!! Wow, they didn't even know me yet, and they already LOVED me....sweet!!

Next, I was surprised even more to learn that I also had a new BIG brother and sister....ROTTWEILERS!!! Oh my goodness...although I was a little unsure at first, I found that my new bro and sis were AWESOME and, within a few minutes we were bonded forever :-) My Rottie sis, Rowen and I play A LOT...sooooo much FUN!!!! Titan, my Rottie brother is a little older (nine years to be exact), so he doesn't play quite as much, but I still love him. I even sleep on their "king sized" beds with them and drink out of their water bowl, too (Mom thinks I'm a dog trapped in a cat's body...lol)

All in all, I have to say I LOVE my new family and they LOVE ME!!! I have settled in quite nicely, and I am happy to call this my forever home. I hope all my kitty and doggy buddies at the SPCA have found great homes like I have!! I have attached some photos of me that Mom took so you can see how I'm doing.

I hope this letter finds all of you (both my animal and human friends) happy, healthy, and most importantly for my animal buddies, finding new homes everyday!!

Much love, Veritas

I just love watching the world go by with my new family!!!!

"SOPHIE" was a stray, now she is a service dog!!!

Sophie was a stray and needed help and now she helps her new Mom live on a daily basis.

I adopted Sophie in September 2009. Sophie is doing great. She was trained and is now a service dog. I am disabled and she is my world and my best friend. She is a little spoiled, but she earns it. She will alert me when I need to sit down, she picks things up for me, she even carries small pieces of firewood up the steps to the fireplace. I want to thank everyone at the SPCA for all they did for Sophie while she was waiting to be adopted and especially when I had to bring her back to be spayed. I worried about her staying to be spayed, but the staff called me a few times to keep me updated on her. When I am out in public with Sophie, whether at a restaurant, a hotel, or the store, I am told how well behaved she is and they are so amazed at what she does for me. People will approach me and ask me about Sophie, and the first thing I tell them is that I got her from the SPCA and I encourage people who are looking for a pet to visit the SPCA. After a doctors appointment with my Neurologist and she met Sophie, she was very impressed by how Sophie helps me, two days later she called me to ask where I got Sophie and how she was trained, and of course I told her the SPCA. Thanks again, Sophie has helped me gain back my independence. Tina

"LUCKY" is one lucky dog ...
he even got to visit Santa this year!!!

Lucky (on the right) with his new best friends, Isabel the yellow lab and Susan the cat.

Lucky is enjoying life in his new home with his new family, but it wasn't always so good. His "lucky" life started like this, the Humane Officer got an after hours call from County Control (911) telling her there was a dog hit by a car. When she was on the way and calling into the folks who found him, they were not really sure he was hit, but he was lying along side the road unresponsive. She picked him up and took him back to the Shelter. He would not stand for her, he would not whimper, or cry or make a sound. He simply laid like a rag doll. When the Humane Officer arrived at the Shelter much to her surprise, Lucky turned up micro-chipped. However, the chip was never registered. She was hoping that someone would come looking for him, but no one every did.

Each day showed a little flicker of light in Lucky's eyes, he began getting up and standing, then moving around, then by the end of the week, he was be-bopping around. Funny part of the story is, the Humane Officer named him Lucky and for his microchip, the only information they could provide for us was his registered name was - coincidentally, it was Lucky. Imagine that! We are soo happy for Lucky and are soo thankful that he now has a good home!!!

"ROGER" aka "GIVE CHROME"
will ring in the New Year in his new home!

Rogers new home is at Walnut Hall Ltd. in Lexington, Kentucky. He has settled in nicely and is having fun rolling in the snow and running with his new horse friends. Special thanks to everyone that called that day to report the animal cruelty and for those who made donations to help with the cost of his care. Without you, Roger could have suffered for many more years or never survived to see the New Year!!!!

Hey guys, it's Buddy here (I was Bart at the SPCA)!
Remember me?? Just wanted to let you know that
I am doing GREAT in my new home!!!!

Kissa (now Kallie) has found her forever home!!!

Who me????

Just wanted to let you know what a great dog Kallie is turning out to be. She is still growing, though she still has not quite grown into her huge ears that are constantly inside out. She is a happy dog who loves to romp and play and above all run and fetch. We like to take her on walks behind our house in our woods, and she loves being able to run and explore a little bit without fetters. She listens to whistles very well, and will immediately come running with a whistle and a shout if we think that she has lagged behind a bit too much smelling this or that.

In addition to her love of running, the retriever in her lineage has come out, and she will play fetch with you multiple times a day if given the option. She has a rubber ring that she loves to chase around the house when it is thrown, and though she is still a little shaky when it actually comes to swimming, if you throw a stick into shallow water she will immediately splash into the water to bring it back to you. (Or, back to your general area so she can chew on it.)

Though she is definitely still a puppy and a bit rough around the edges (she ate a small rock the other day, and likes to eat pot holders whenever she can get a hold of them) she is a wonderful and loving dog, and every day I am glad that we welcomed her into our house. I believe this is picture was taken a few weeks ago, but nevertheless, I wanted to share it with you because for lack of a better description, it is such a Kallie sort of expression.

Kallie's Mom

A stray, severely under weight ... now a Princess!!!

Bella was a VERY skinny, frightened Saint Bernard, now look at her!!!!

Bella has now been with us over a year. She has blossomed into a true princess. Sometimes I call her Bella Cinderella because of her transformation. I hope you can tell from these pictures how happy she is and how happy we are to have her as part of our family.

As you can see, she is quite a couch potato (as are the other two also). The dogs usually choose their seat and we get what is left! She still does her zoomies at times and loves to rip apart her toys. On these cooler nights, the loveseat is her bed. When I am home (especially on weekends) she always wants to be with her mommy. I try to find quality "mommy time" with not only Bella but Jake, Sadie and Maggie. I hope you enjoy the pictures of our beautiful saint who has evolved from that frightened "Twiggy" into a gorgeous St. Bernard Princess.

Thank you again for giving Bella a chance. Every time we hear the Carrie Underwood song....temporary home....I tell Bella your "other mommy" gave you a temporary home and now you are in your forever home. She is getting oodles of love and sends some of it to you along with licks and kisses.

Take care......love from Bella and Bella's Mom!

Hey Mom, which Pub should we hit tonight???

Let's try that one Mom!!!

I just wanted you to know how awesome Gracie is doing!!!!! She is a fantastic dog!! She is having a great time -- we go for lots of walks and we see other dogs and we walk to the Inner Harbor. She sleeps quietly right next to my bed and when I'm not there it seems that she loves chilling out on the couch and looking out the window. She is very, very good! Even the two hour car ride to Baltimore was a piece of cake for her!

I'm a little angel ....

Again, she is a wonderful dog!!! She does everything perfectly! I expected some training but she doesn't need any! No accidents, no chewing, no barking, no lunging at other dogs or cats, no nothing!!! She has moved on to the bed for her daytime sleep area. I guess the couch didn't give her enough room to stretch out. haha. She's so fun. She loves those belly rubs (like you said) and she is getting to know our neighborhood very well. Her appetite is great and she is so fun. She is so well behaved - it's really unbelievable. It's like she's been my dog for years. You should see how excited she gets when I get home. It's hilarious. She loves our apartment and she runs from room to room, then lays down for a belly rub. She's very funny.

What??? The leash is not a toy ... come on, get real!!!

What shall we get into today???

"Comet" fits in great with his new family ... their
Faithful Companion!!

I need to keep all my toys close ... don't want to lose any!!!

Comet is doing very very well. He has fit in very nicely in his new home. It is like he has been here forever. His new name is "Dillion" it is Irish for Faithful Companion. He has learned to sit & laydown. He walks nicely on the leash and loves to take long long walks. He got a new bed and he uses it to play with his toys or to chew things. He has to sleep with me and he snuggles up. Dillion is getting better about not jumping up on people, but still needs a little work. He is so happy to see new people and he wants to welcome them.

Thank you very much for a very loving companion !
Love the Kaufman Family

Halloween kitty (Spook) stole his
foster family's hearts!!!

Spook now called Bogey, just hangin' around the kitchen hoping
that Mom will give him a treat!

On Halloween day one year ago, a black cat was brought into the shelter. He was given the name, Spook. Some nice folks had found the poor fellow in their garage. He was covered in ticks and so emaciated and weak that he could not stand. It was not until after he regained his strength and was moved to adoption, that staff discovered that his left hind leg was seriously injured. A vet determined that the best course of action would be to amputate the leg and so Spook went to a foster home to await the surgery and to recover afterwards. The foster family fell in love with Spook (who they renamed Bogey) and adopted him after the surgery. Here is a letter from the family:

We just wanted to let you know what a great little guy that Bogey has been for our cat family. He did not let the surgery slow him down one bit and was up running and jumping on his first day out of confinement. His best pals are Benji, Thomas and JD (the last two were also ACSPCA adoptees) although he is also especially fond of some of his oldest sisters. He likes to hop up the little pet steps to the sofa and curl up with Katie, Cleo and/or Buttons. Sometimes he picks on some of his "siblings", but most of the time he is a good boy and a joy to have around. We are so blessed to have this special boy in our lives!

Cocoa, Tic and Tac
enjoying life in their new home!!

The girls are doing great. We are very happy with them. We added a second floor to the Guinea pig house and they love running up and down the ramp. They all seem to enjoy being held and playing in their playpen. They have also figured out the sound of the front door opening in the morning means Mom is home from work and veggies will be coming soon. They make quite a chorus. They are enjoying new veggies from the garden and sleeping in their cuddle bags.

I love my new cuddle bag and my new home!!!

Tessa & Lovey a few months after being adopted ...

Just wanted to give you an update on the kitties I adopted from you back a few months or so ago. (They used to be named Lovey and Tessa, his mother, she delivered him and his littermates in your shelter). I have renamed them both. Lovey is now called Rambo, and Tessa, is still Tessa but we call her "Mommy kitty". They are both doing quite well. They love the scratching post I got for them and they both have adjusted well. That didn't take either of them long though. Rambo loves to give kisses and play. He is sooo good with my kids, even my 7 month old daughter, Nevaeh. He likes to harass his Mommy a lot too (both his real Mommy and me LOL) Mommy is very laid back. She too is good with my children but she tends to keep to herself more so. She picked me as her favorite person in our home and will follow me so much so, that at times she trips me. LOL. Her and Rambo purr as soon as they are touched. Mommy was a little thin when I first got her. Now, she is filling out beautifully. She is almost on the brink of being overweight but that doesn't surprise me, she LOVES to eat!

Tanner came to the shelter in rough shape ...
and look at him now!!!

We could tell that Tanner had not had the best of life ... he was looking a little rough, very thin and had a sore on his face. Off to the vet he went, the sore was actually the infection from an abscessed tooth. They got him all fixed up and look at him now. All he needed was some loving care and the proper nutrition, and now he looks just like a handsome prince!!!! Here's a little note we got from his new Mom:

Just wanted to send you all the latest photos of the 'family'....Sprocket is doing great and loves to go for walks. Dixie and her went along to NY in the camper last weekend and did great. Tanner is putting on weight and when he was at the vets last Wednesday, he weighed 41 pounds, so has gained 5 or so pounds. Had an ear infection but almost gone now. He has already weined his way up on my son's bed at night...didn't take long!!! My friend who is a dog lover also, doggie sat for Tanner over the weekend. He's almost housebroke but still has a little ways to go before we can take him along in the camper.....all in all, they are all doing great!!!

Come on Mom, you know I need that treat to gain some more weight!!

Tin has found out what a great family he now has!!!!!

"Gussie" is doing extremely well!

Gussie came to the shelter as a stray, she had on a purple collar and was definitely someone's pet. VERY sweet and affectionate. She lived to be petted, and if you would stop, you would get the "hey you stopped petting me" nudge. We could not believe that someone did not come looking for her. A note from her new family:

Bailey (shelter name was Gussie) is doing extremely well! She seems very happy and is such a love bug! She got groomed and looks even more adorable. Notice that all that straggly hair around her neck is gone! I’ve attached a few recent pics of Bailey (Gussie). She still growls at our Golden Retriever Libby sometimes, but for the most part is tolerating her! She sure likes to hang close to us. And she LOVES taking walks and getting belly rubs!

Gussie (Bailey) and Libby chillin out.

"Thanksgiving day" puppy sure has grown up!!

Buddy aka Pilgrim was born at the SPCA in the wee hours of Thanksgiving morning. He was one of eleven born, all with Thanksgiving names.

I just wanted to send you all a quick note and some pictures of our dog Buddy. He was one of the litter of 11 pups born on Thanksgiving and previously named Pilgrim. I thought it would be interesting for you to see how much he has grown in a few short months! We are continually amazed at what a loving "lap dog" he has become. We are very grateful to the entire staff for the tireless work that goes into saving these animals and we couldn't imagine our lives without our pets to make us smile everyday.
Thank you Becky and Family

They don't stay little for long ... wasn't Buddy adorable, now
he's one handsome young man!!!

Life is good!!!!

Hi, my name is Ginger. I was born at the SPCA on September 27th, 2009 along with my 3 siblings! My new mommy, daddy, and two sisters adopted me on November 25th just in time for my first Thanksgiving and Christmas! I enjoyed winter so much, I love playing in the snow! I also love to play fetch, go for hikes, give you paw paw, and if you a roll a ball to me I can roll it back to you (I am very smart and well behaved!!). I am so glad I found my forever home, my family loves me so much!

What's this white stuff Mommy???

Thanks to the good samaritan that reported my Mommy's living conditions to the SPCA, my Mommy does not have to live in a junkyard anymore. Because of you ... me, my Mommy & brothers & sisters are all living in a wonderful home!!!

Here is a picture of my Mommy (Sarah) and me and
my three siblings when we were just babies.
